Thermoplastic pipe extruder Ipex USA LLC acquired Silver-Line Plastics Corp., which produces pipes in four plants in the United States.

Silver-Line was founded in 1962 and is headquartered in Asheville, North Carolina. It produces various pipe products including PVC, chlorinated PVC, polyethylene, and XLPE.

The company serves the pipeline, well casing, irrigation, utilities, industrial and agricultural, natural gas and geothermal markets. According to the latest ranking of Plastics News, Silver-Line has estimated sales of 140 million U.S. dollars, ranking 34th in North American pipe, profile and pipe extruders.

Ipex is the North American subsidiary of Aliaxis SA in Pineville, North Carolina. Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, it produces pipes for similar end markets and municipal customers. According to the ranking, Ipex's estimated sales are 460 million U.S. dollars, ranking eighth among North American extruders.

The terms of the acquisition, which is expected to be completed within a few weeks, were not disclosed.

Ipex CEO Alex Mestres stated in a press statement that Silver-Line is a suitable company to grow in the United States.

"Like Ipex, Silver-Line has a reputation in the market for being customer-centric and providing high-quality products. This acquisition will make a significant contribution to our growth goals in the United States," Mestres said.

Silver-Line CEO Ricky Silver called these businesses "very appropriate" and his father was the company's co-founder.

"The synergy between our two companies will provide our employees, customers and the entire market with a wider range of product offerings, more emphasis on customer service, and world-class technological advantages," Silver said.

The Silver-Line website advertised several technological manufacturing milestones, such as becoming the first company to fully automate the PVC mixing process in 1980; the first to use two instead of three extruders to produce honeycomb core tubes in 1985; and in 2014 Be the first to obtain sustainability certification from the Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association.

Silver-Line will join a company with 16,100 employees in global manufacturing and distribution facilities.

"In line with our strategy, this acquisition strengthens our leadership in North America, expands our footprint, and strengthens our value proposition in the United States," Aliaaxis CEO Laurent Lenoir said in a press release.
